Talap Mamyrkanov is a USA Boxing certified coach who works at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, New York. Talap and I became partners in 2023, and he came on as a coach for Trans Boxing– a boxing club that centers trans and gender variant people. He brings decades of experience to his knowledge of Soviet Style boxing and Talap goes above and beyond to support all boxers, including LGBTQ+ athletes. He has an effortless way with folks, making anyone he is around feel comfortable and affirmed, and he brings an intensity and rigor that has had incredibly positive impact on the competitiveness of the athletes he trains.
